The society held an awareness programme for World Ozone Day at the government primary and upper primary school in Kulethi, through its science resource centre there. Across the blackboard behind the speakers ran the line the day was marked under:
ओजोन परत बचायेंगे। जलवायु परिवर्तन घटायेंगे।
We will save the ozone layer. We will reduce climate change.
Students were told what the ozone layer is, the part it plays in protecting the environment, and the measures that protect it. A projector was used to put the subject simply.
The society’s Secretary, Shri (Dr) G. B. Bist, explained that the ozone layer protects living things from the sun’s harmful ultraviolet rays, and asked the students to stay mindful of protecting the environment. One of the pupils spoke to the room as well.
